DLC believes that the future of retail real estate isn’t just about properties—it’s about people. That’s why we’ve partnered with Project Destined, a leading social impact platform dedicated to empowering diverse young professionals through real-world training in real estate. Our collaboration represents a commitment to cultivating the next generation of industry leaders by providing mentorship, education, and hands-on experience.
Recently, the Fall cohort of students visited the DLC offices to meet with CEO Adam Ifshin about the retail real estate industry, tour the headquarters in Elmsford, NY, and visit Beach Shopping Center, in Peekskill, NY. On the property tour, teammates from property management, asset management, leasing, and construction management gave students a hands on look into a day in the life of running a property.
What is Project Destined?
Founded with the goal of democratizing access to real estate education, Project Destined offers a unique training program that immerses students in the intricacies of commercial real estate. Participants engage in live deal analysis, financial modeling, and property evaluation, all while working alongside industry professionals. Through this program, students gain practical knowledge and develop the confidence needed to pursue careers in real estate investment, development, and asset management.
DLC’s Role in Project Destined
As an owner-operator of open-air shopping centers, DLC has long been committed to fostering talent and innovation within the retail real estate sector. By partnering with Project Destined, we’re providing students with unparalleled access to real-world retail real estate transactions, mentorship from our team of industry experts, and exposure to the dynamic world of shopping center investment.
Why This Matters
The real estate industry has historically lacked diversity, and programs like Project Destined are actively changing that landscape. By equipping students from underrepresented backgrounds with knowledge, networks, and experience, we’re ensuring that the future of real estate is as diverse as the communities we serve.
For DLC, this partnership is about more than corporate social responsibility—it’s about shaping the future of retail real estate. We recognize that investing in young talent today will drive innovation and success for years to come.
Looking Ahead
As our partnership with Project Destined grows, we remain committed to empowering the next generation of real estate leaders. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to real deals, we’re helping students unlock opportunities that will shape their careers and, ultimately, the future of our industry.
